For this installment on 10 on 10, I waited for a day when we were either doing something somewhat fun, or the forecast called for sunshine. This day was just a little of both.
I registered Brock for kindergarten, and it was partly sunny. Something to cheer about.

Now run off and check out Abbie McFarland | Lifestyle Film Photographer | Fort Worth, TX!

Meet Delia. She’s my assistant for my handbags and helps me out tremendously. Her boyfriend of several years just left for the Philippians where he’ll be living for the next two years. He really just left- the morning after the session. We were lucky to squeeze this in at all, and the weather, well, I guess it just reflected the mood. It was supposed to be sunny and turned gray, misty and so cold, yet so beautiful. I love the quiet and stillness of it all.
It was an honor to photograph them before this huge change, and I wish them all the best.

What a neat project! I love looking through the images and different perspectives. I am curious – how did or do you come up with weekly themes? By the way, I also loved your “the kids were here ” project. It has inspired me to do my own version – I have 4 days left!

I’ve had the pleasure of photographing this family a few times now, but this time around there have been some big changes. Carrie really wanted these photographs to show her children that though things have changed, they are still a family and are still very much loved. She also wanted to show her strength in recovering from a divorce, and I think those are the most powerful images of the bunch. It was funny, because as I photographed her alone, she was just telling me her story – the challenges, the joys, and so much power and beauty shone through. It was really amazing to watch it unfold. There are so many women going through the same struggles, figuring out how to rebuild or maintain a stable family while doing it alone, in two different households. I really hope others can take some strength of their own from these photographs.

comment #11 by Jessie, who’s inspiring quote was actually one of my favorites:

I love this mom quote “The most important thing she’d learned over the years was that there was no way to be a perfect mother and a million ways to be a good one.” – Jill Churchill because it inspires me everyday.

Congrats Jessie, you’ll be receiving your set of Kellie Hatcher B&W Film presets by email shortly.
Thank you to everyone who entered, I loved reading all that inspires you!
