Archive for '10 on 10'

May 10, 2012 |

I can’t believe my little boy is now five years old! He’s not a baby, not a toddler, now he’s a boy. A real boy.
This month’s 10 on 10 was shot on Brock’s birthday.

My first mammogram at the youthful age of 34, only to be told what I was experiencing was “normal breast pain”. Glad it was nothing.

5 is a great age for a mustache and I can now call him “Sir”

not shown – the BNSF engine cake I made at his request. You can see it here if you are so inclined.

And now, head over to my favorite Pop-of-Color, Shannon Harrison of Jack & Ruby Studios | San Diego, CA!
Until next month…

Shot while I was in Los Angeles for a quickie business trip (I love saying that) and hanging out with my BFF who I miss dearly.
When you’re done with me, mozie (is that how it’s spelled?) on over to Kristin Young’s blog and see what she saw.

These are all shot with a Holga which is why they look so stellar.
And again, go check out the next in our little circle, Kristin Young!

Since the 10 on 10 project is just a fun exploration, I let myself play this month and attempted to shoot the entire thing with my Holga.
A few things I learned:
1. Tape the back closed. I had the back cover pop off and expose my film while I was taking the camera out of my bag.
2. Outdoors in the daylight is your friend. Or just get friendly with the bulb setting. Or, use a higher iso film. Duh.

These images are from my big-girl business trip to Vegas where I attended a trade show, looking for materials and fabrics for my line of camera bags.
The show turned out to be a pretty big bust for me. Not quite what I was expecting or looking for. I did get a great source book and came back with a new direction for the biz so all was not in vain.

Be sure to check out the photographs from Rebecca Conway | Lifestyle Photographer | Knoxville, TN  next and travel through our little circle. You’ll end up right back here. And don’t be shy, if you see something you like, leave a comment and say so! We all love the feedback and knowing people are actually looking at our work.

For this installment on 10 on 10, I waited for a day when we were either doing something somewhat fun, or the forecast called for sunshine. This day was just a little of both.
I registered Brock for kindergarten, and it was partly sunny. Something to cheer about.

Now run off and check out Abbie McFarland | Lifestyle Film Photographer | Fort Worth, TX!

A new year, a new project.
I jumped on-board of this ongoing photo project with a handful of photographers. The jist of it is 10 photos throughout the span of one day, posted on the 10th of the month. We each link to the next person’s blog so you can follow along until you get back here. If you can spare a few minutes, I urge to you check out everyone’s work – it’s worth it, I promise!

And so we begin on the first day of the new year. The last day of my husbands staycation, before we get back to our usual routine.
We are not great planners and most of our outings consist of me wanting to go somewhere and having a vague idea of just where that may be. We do a lot of driving, making stops along the way just because. It’s fun, I totally dig it though I’m sure the kids think otherwise – being strapped into a carseat for the majority of the day can’t be that super. But they got candy, so all is well. For this adventure we took the Kingston ferry because we haven’t ridden that one yet. Of course we ended up at a place we’ve already been on another adventure, but such is life.
Some of the highlights – a fish wearing jeans, “Hood anal”, old fashioned candy (love the Mary Jane wrappers!) and a sunset ferry ride.

Next stop, visit Kristin M. Young | Central Florida Photographer and check out her day!
