I was really looking forward to meeting Carrie after several emails prior to their session. She seemed like a cool chick and she, and her family, didn’t disappoint. We had a really fun in-home session where I almost got kicked in the face by Parker’s kung fu. I love that they were so comfortable in front of the camera, dancing around and being silly…  Makes for funner photos that truly capture the family’s spirit.

I loooove this image. It looks like he’s in trouble, but really he just wanted to get off the bed but was patiently waiting for me to get my shot.20091206_CMillen_35(4)

20091206_CMillen_64(3)This is my favorite of the session. I asked for eyes closed, no smile which led to several minutes of laughter as Carrie tried, unsuccessfully,  to give me a straight face. The honesty of this is so much better than what I was asking for!20091206_CMillen_75(1)

20091206_CMillen_668Showing me his karate moves. I think he liked this a little too much :) 20091206_CMillen_02

These types of images, while probably not what the family was hoping for, are some of my favorites. 20091206_CMillen_99

I can’t wait to shoot Kylie’s 1 year pictures – I already have lots of fun ideas floating around!

enjoy!

After about 2 months off for maternity leave (Knox is 7 weeks old already!), I got back to doing what I love – photography!

We had an in-home session with this family, which is always a challenge but yields great results. It leaves me nervous for days before the session, wondering what kind of shooting environment I’ll be walking into. Will the lighting be good? Will there be enough room to maneuver? As stressed as I get beforehand, I always leave satisfied. I think the challenge makes the end results more rewarding for me, and I love capturing these moments for my families. Years down the road, when the children are grown, these images will bring back the memories of the time in the home. Because it truly captures the family’s life.

And now, bring on the pictures!

Poor mom – Amadeo got a handful of her hair.20091205_Rasa_0211I mean really got it! She kept a smile on her face, but ouch! I had to capture it, though. That’s life as a mom.  :) 20091205_Rasa_0212Most photographers don’t allow other cameras at the session :) 20091205_Rasa_0250_bwI’m supposed to stay behid the camera, not in front of it!20091205_Rasa_0262_bwAfter the family photos, Rasa and I headed out into the cold to get a few shots of her. We hopped a fence into this great field near her house. Everything was covered in frost this morning and this field was just melting as the sun shone, leaving a gorgeous, glittery sea.20091205_Rasa_035520091205_Rasa_0409This was a great session with a fun family. The perfect way to get back into my work. Thanks, guys!

I finally got a new, real website set up. This one is pretty neat, I think. Clients will appreciate the private proofing galleries with online shopping, I will appreciate the simplicity! Also, sign up for email updates and new posts will be delivered to you.

Here’s a picture of my 2 1/2 year old. We’re potty training while he does his holiday shopping. :)
